Outreach programs at St John of God Accord assist people to gain greater independence as they live in their community whilst developing, maintaining and enhancing their abilities to live healthy lives and independently.
Our services are designed as an access point by which people with a disability can engage with their community and support their choice for independent living. Our team ensures choices and opportunities are made available within communities, and are accessible to people with a disability wishing to engage with their community.
People with a disability often live in social isolation that reduces their confidence as individuals. Many are unaware that there are opportunities and social groups out there in surrounding neighbourhoods that can open doors to rewarding activities and possibilities that enable them to create and build upon their social networks.
The team at Outreach has strong connections with communities, government and industry to advocate for those with a disability. If you or someone you know is looking to join a social or cultural network that can aid in personal growth and community engagement then please contact us. We can come up with specially designed programs tailored to enhance skills, create opportunities for self-expression, and develop a higher sense of self whilst promoting health and a healthy lifestyle.
Our philosophy and success is based on compassionate individualised support. We offer training and support with sincere companionship. Our programs include cooking, money management, shopping, independent travel and safety awareness.
We also offer assistance with daily routines and appointments, personal skills and referrals and resourcing to specialised areas.
The service is available to people with disabilities in the Eastern region of Melbourne who are living independently or are planning to live independently and require some assistance with a specific skill area.

Support is negotiated with each individual at times that best suit them. Individual plans are developed that reflect ways of achieving goals identified for independent living.
