The St John of God Accord Archway Program, based in Mooroolbark, is unique and exclusive in that it provides support services for people with a disability who are retired or in the process of retirement.
Our age-integrated programs offer a diverse range of recreation and leisure options designed to meet specific individual needs and requests within the local and wider community. Activities and programs allow people to construct their own concept of community and develop networks, ties and connections that are meaningful to them.
Our teams’ approach to this service places much importance on healthy living and therefore initiatives are taken to designing programs that best monitor and provides skills to individuals to ensure healthier lifestyles.
With the move towards individualised plans, though already we deliver particular activities, they are not necessarily predetermined programs. Each individual’s lifestyle is assessed with all life circumstances taken into account. People enrolled in our services get to choose the program they wish to take part in each day. Typically, if any individual presents an activity that falls outside our program parameters, then steps are taken to design a new program that best meets their needs and their lifestyle.
At Archway the starting point for all programs is individual. Group activities are only formed based on common interests, it at all. Life is not a series of program slots like on television. Our services take into consideration all possible individual circumstances and interests rather than what a particular pre-design program has to offer.
Persons over the age of 55 with disabilities who live in the Outer Eastern Metropolitan region of Melbourne.
