Team leaders are to facilitate change and drive continuous improvement whilst integrating the work of al team members to best meet client needs based on person centeredness and the Accord quality Framework.

Support Workers / Professionals play an important role in assisting a person or group of people with a disability to successfully carry out day to day activities; maintain the best possible state of physical and emotional well-being; form and maintain a fairly close and respectful relationship with family members, social groups and community groups related to the individual being supported. Support tasks also include managing the financial status of the person they support. This role can be one on one with an individual or supporting a group of individuals. At Accord our support is all about growth and or support towards independent living.

The Disability Educator Band 1 duties include assisting one or more educators who work with adults with a disability to participate in day service activities and programs. In a team environment, the incumbent will contribute to developing programs and activity outlines and assist in the implementation of individual service plans and personalised service arrangements as specified in people's life style plans. The Disability Educator Band 1 (or Instructor Band 1) will be encouraged to undertake relevant training or study, particularly Certificate IV in Disability Studies. This is an entry level position in a Support Worker/ Trainee capacity.

Band 2 staff are placed within the organsiation to not only run programs and schedule activities proactively and effectively but also guide Band 1 Instructors as they will be working alongside them frequently. Band 2s are in place to help Band 1s or entry level staff learn the ropes of the role as a support worker. Certificate IV in Disability Studies is a must for Band 2 Instructors. Experience in the field with evidence of successful initiatives is also preferred.

Under the current EBA this role involves the supervision of staff and includes the ability and skills to design programs. The minimum qualification for this role is a Diploma in Disability Studies. Very similar to the Team Leader role, Instructors at Band 3 level must have and maintain strong awareness of service experts on which they can call upon to resolve day to day issues. Positive Behaviour Support teams, Accommodation Managers and Client Service Facilitators will be the Instructor's closest point of call at Accord.

The correct EBA and title for this position is yet to be made official. However, there is a strong need to fill various positions in this service area, from full-time to part-time and casual support. Certificate IV in Disability Studies is crucial to any role undertaken in any Accord Outreach program or service. Experience as a Community or Disability Support Worker is also vital to ensure applicants have a strong understanding about the position and how it plays out in the running and scheduling of our Outreach programs. Applicants must be able to devise, implement and evaluate personalised support arrangements for the individuals they support. Your ability to empower people in assisting themselves in further developing their independence in some of the following (but not limited to); accommodation, cooking, household management, shopping, money and time management, self-advocacy, self-awareness, independent travel, presentation, community involvement and more.

Your role will drive improvements that can make a real difference to the quality of life for the people we support. An excellent salary package relevant to qualifications and experience will be offered. The location requires travel between Greensborough and/or Mooroolbark (Ringwood from late 2008) and the north/west and eastern metro travel will be required.
