St John of God Accord has taken on a new strategic direction following its mission to provide an improved quality of life for the people we support according to best practice.
We acknowledge the strengths and successes we’ve enjoyed in the past and are now looking forward to provide an even better range of services to remain a strong and competitive service organisation. Sharing the goals identified by the Victorian Government under their “Growing Victoria Together” vision, which was reviewed in 2005, St John of God Accord is refreshing its outlook and strengthening its performance to provide an ever-higher quality support service to the people we support and the greater community.
Originating from a strong history of hospitality through the energy and commitment of our original sponsor, the Hospitallier Order of St John of God Brothers, officially founded in 1953, we have plotted a new course. Our potential is now strengthened in unity with the sisterhood of St John of God Health Care to further maximize our opportunities to develop and provide greater support services to people with disabilities.
The merger that occurred in 2007 was pivotal in redefining and assuring the sustainability of our current programs. As a result of the merger, greater benefits, security and the potential for growth is now achievable. St John of God Health Care has a 112-year history that also brings significant influence with State and Commonwealth Governments and other funding sources, excellent systems and processes, committed to the development and expansion of all services combined.
Now part of St John of God Health Care, St John of God Accord is striving to be an inspired leader in our industry. Our services are driven by integrity, trust, openness and commitment. Our perspective is to anticipate change and prepare ourselves with strengthened skills to lead our organisation in being the best support service possible.
We are proud of our traditions of comprehensive and integrated support services to people with disabilities, and we have developed innovative and best practice in the areas of accommodation, respite, day programs and employment support.
St John of God Accord turns aspirations and desires into reality through a person-centered planning process which engages with each individual to establish how they define a great “quality of life’’. Measuring the success of this Mission and improving the individual’s Quality of Life is a challenge in itself. However, striving to become leaders in research and development with regards to the provision of such support services under local and international best practice models, assures us that we can meet that challenge.
Our teams are designed to implement an effective process and system that will enable us to gather the information required to achieve what we set out to do.
